TEAM BIKE CHALLENGE

Marin is looking for 15 teams – have you got yours together?

2006 Team Bike Challenge WinnersDue to its success last year, Bike to Work Day organizers are continuing the “Team Bike Challenge” to encourage existing bicycle commuters to recruit their colleagues, friends, neighbors, and local ‘honorary’ figures to bicycle to work, school, errands or play during the month of May.

Participants in the Team Bike Challenge will form teams consisting of two to five individuals. Teams can register at www.511.org starting in March. During the entire month of May, participants will track their trips made by bike as they compete against other teams.

Participants form teams consisting of two to five individuals and think of a creative name for themselves. Each team must have at least two novice riders, earning double points. An optional “Big Wheel” rider (elected official, journalist, company executive or manager) would earn triple points. “Weekend Warriors” (take long leisure rides and/or participate in organized rides/races, but doesn’t commute by bike) earn double points. “Lifestyle Riders” (seasoned and skilled riders who ride 2 or more times per week for transportation) earn one point for each day pedaled. Teams can register at 511.org.

During May, the participants will track their trips made by bike on a personalized calendar at 511.org as they compete against other teams during the entire month. The team with the highest number of points will win a grand prize. All teams will enjoy the benefits of bike commuting.
