The Marin Ride of Silence 2023 will take place Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., cycling from Piper Park – 250 Doherty Drive in Larkspur to downtown San Anselmo and back.
The annual Ride of Silence will remember cyclists killed or injured in Marin. Marin Ride of Silence will honor those whose lives have been taken while riding a bicycle. Before heading out at 10:30 a.m., there will be a brief ceremony to remember those killed biking in Marin, as well as Sylvia Bingham, daughter of ride organizers Steve Bingham and Francoise Blusseau.
The ride will be led by MarinCylvists. There will be a short route of 10.6 mi. as well as two long routes of 43.7 mi. and 51.4 mi. which will stop briefly at sites where cyclists have been killed in San Rafael, Fairfax, Woodacre and Lucas Valley Road to honor their memories. The different routes can be seen on this route map. Riders will honor the memories of those killed with their silence and will ride with the group at a social pace.
The Ride of Silence is both a remembrance and a call to drivers and policy makers to do more to make cycling safe. The Marin Ride of Silence supports Vision Zero https://visionzeronetwork.org/ which is not yet official policy anywhere in Marin County.
