Join us for a group ride over the Richmond – San Rafael Bridge on Saturday, May 20th at 9 a.m. followed by the Bike Fest in the Park event at Pickleweed Park!
Start: SMART San Rafael
Distance: 18.6 miles if you start/end at the SMART San Rafael Station; 13.8 miles if you start/end at Pickleweed Park
Time: Approximately 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
This medium-paced, moderate difficulty ride will start at the SMART San Rafael Station, cruise along a combination of bike path and bike lane as we leave downtown, head into the Canal neighborhood to pick up additional riders at Pickleweed Park, go up and over the RSR Bridge via the bridge’s bike/walk path, and return the same way over the bridge back to Pickleweed Park and the SMART station. Certified League of American Bicyclists are leading the ride. This ride is made possible by funding from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). The official MTC ride will end once we return to the SMART San Rafael Station around 11:30 am.
Prior to reaching the official end, the route will pass by Pickleweed Park. Any riders that started there will have the option to conclude their ride there. After the ride, Marin County Bicycle Coalition (MCBC) ride leaders will be attending the Bike Fest in the Park event happening at Pickleweed Park. Any ride participants who want to accompany the MCBC leaders and attend that event are invited to do so (not as part of this official MTC event). Please bring a bike lock and money for lunch if you plan to stick around after the ride.
All adults are welcome to participate, and any youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All riders must wear a helmet and sign a release of liability waiver from both MCBC and MTC. A working bicycle and helmet are required for participation.
Pre-registration is recommended. To sign up, please register here.
