More than 60 kids rode away with new bikes and a new sense of freedom at the MCBC / Cory’s Ride Bike Fest on Saturday, March 28 at Sinaloa Middle School.

— Rommy Guitierrez Viera, Cory’s Ride Intern and Senior, Novato High School
For many, it was a milestone: their first ride, their first helmet, their first real taste of independence. Along the course, Cory’s Ride teen leaders jogged beside them, steadying handlebars, offering encouragement, and celebrating every successful pedal.
The event was led by a dedicated team of Cory’s Ride high school students from Novato High School, who took on hands-on leadership roles throughout the day. From fitting helmets to guiding riders through the course and helping distribute bikes, these youth leaders created a welcoming, supportive experience for families in their own community.
“I loved being part of something that brings so much joy to families.”
— Anlleli Mendez Vasquez, Cory’s Ride Intern and Sophomore, Novato High School
Thanks to generous community support, 65 children received free bikes and helmets, removing a major barrier to riding and opening the door to mobility, independence, and outdoor fun.

Safety and confidence-building were central to the day. MCBC’s Safe Routes to Schools team hosted an interactive bike rodeo where kids practiced essential skills like stopping, signaling, and navigating obstacles in a fun, low-pressure environment.
From first rides to youth leadership in action, the day was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when access, mentorship, and community come together.
We’re grateful to our sponsors, Spare the Air, REI, and Mike’s Bikes, for making this event possible.
With your support, we can reach even more kids, invest in youth leaders, and continue building a more connected and equitable Marin. Donate or get involved to help power the next Bike Fest.
