November 2024 Election Questionnaires Bike the Vote 2024

Bike the Vote in 2024! Local elections are your opportunity to voice support for a more bike-friendly Marin. Marin County Bicycle Coalition is here to help you Bike the Vote by sharing candidates’ responses to our questions on bicycling issues.

Nearly all bike infrastructure is planned, designed, and implemented by our local governments. Whether our communities become more bike-friendly or stay the same is largely up to elected leaders and the staff they oversee. As such, local elections, which can be won or lost by just a few votes, are a critical opportunity to push your city or town in a positive direction.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Marin County Bicycle Coalition cannot endorse candidates for public office, but we are able to conduct questionnaires so that you can arrive at your own conclusion.

Linked below are posts for each city/town council election in Marin, as well as the District 2 County Board of Supervisors, and Marin Water Board of Directors for Divisions II and V:

We did not receive responses to our questionnaire from any candidates in the following races:

  • Corte Madera

  • Novato District 1

The following elections are not competitive in this election (i.e., there are as many candidates as open seats), and we opted not to send a questionnaire:

  • Belvedere

  • Larkspur, long-term seat

  • Novato District 3

  • Novato District 5

Marin Water Pilot Program Update

After months of confidential mediation with parties that oppose sharing trails with bikes, Marin Water staff has settled with the litigants and agreed to rescind the two previously approved pilots. A modified two year Class 1 E-bike pilot will be allowed to proceed. We are deeply disappointed in this development but will continue to work toward our trail sharing goals.
