Marin Century 2017 Let’s Give a Cheer for the Nicasio Rest Stop Volunteers

On Saturday, August 5, Marin Cyclists hosted more than 2300 riders on the roads of Marin. Once again, MCBC staffed the final Rest Stop at Nicasio School, cheering on riders completing everything from the Half-Metric to the Double Century distances as they mounted the last push to the finish. and according to many riders who answered our non-scientific survey: “It was the best rest stop!”

Of course, to properly host the Nicasio Rest Stop, MCBC counts on its large network of dedicated volunteers to prep and hand out food and words of encouragement to the riders of the Marin Century.

We would like to take a moment to send out a big THANK YOU to all of our Nicasio Rest Stop Volunteers:
Luta Duncan, Russ Young, Patrick Middleton, Melissa Groos, Gavin Willard, Lauren Willard, Richard Moore, Susan Moore,Willy Waks, Thomas Horne, Meredith Pike-Baky, Laura Call, Leslie Laskin-Reese, Oscar Lozano, Steve Shiotsu, Denise Montalvo, Kay Louisson, Nicole Mezo, Keith Cunningham

This year was a great turn out with amazing foods. From fresh organic peaches, plums, and figs to salty treats, this rest stop had it all. The first group of volunteers were ready to spring into action prepping the food for the first wave of riders. The buzz from all of the riders was they really enjoy the Nicasio Rest Stop and our volunteers are the best (we agree!). The second wave of volunteers saw much of the same, riders in need of smiles and nutrition to keep the energy up to continue the road to the finish line.

As we’ve stated before, our events are only possible because of our amazing network of volunteers. We are always looking to grow this network and are excited to welcome new faces to our Volunteer Roster.  If you’re interested in becoming an MCBC Volunteer you can email Jess Willard or sign up here.
