The proposed Dias Ridge Connector is a crucial trail link that will provide multiple benefits to all trail users – equestrians, pedestrians, and cyclists – in an area visited by large numbers of people almost every day of the year, where the narrow shoulder of a busy State highway currently provides the only non-motorized access between the Dias Ridge and Redwood Creek Trails.
This project provides several important benefits, addressing safety, alternative transportation opportunities, linkages between trail networks, and more, for many trail users and groups. Among the key reasons we urge your support for this project, the trail would:
Provide a safe route for equestrians, pedestrians, and cyclists who currently must use a narrow to non-existent shoulder on Highway 1 to get from Muir Beach and the Dias Ridge Trail to the Redwood Creek Trail/Frank Valley Road.
Provide a seamless and safe connection to these trails for transit users who disembark from the popular West Marin Stagecoach at the new bus stop across from the Pelican Inn at Muir Beach.
Close an existing gap in the trail networks of the Marin Headlands and Mt. Tamalpais areas, helping link public lands managed by several different agencies.
