What we do

Access & Education

MCBC’s Access & Education programs expand access to bikes, equip riders of all ages with the skills and confidence to ride safely, and build a more equitable, bike-friendly Marin.

MCBC’s Access & Education programs work to break down barriers to biking while helping riders of all ages and backgrounds gain the skills, confidence, and support they need. From expanding access to bikes and promoting safe riding practices to fostering equity and encouraging more people to ride, these programs empower individuals and strengthen Marin’s biking community.

WHAT WE DO

Safe Routes to Schools Marin

The Safe Routes to Schools program enhances the quality of life for entire school communities through education, encouragement, and infrastructure improvements. A program of the Transportation Authority of Marin, Safe Routes to Schools Marin teaches cycling skills, promotes healthy lifestyles, and encourages green transportation for elementary, middle, and high school students. Marin County pioneered this national program, which has now expanded to all 50 states.

Cory’s Ride

Cory’s Ride brings the benefits of bicycling to Marin students who might not otherwise have the opportunity. By providing bikes and traffic safety education, the program empowers young riders with mobility, independence, and confidence. Established in 2020 in memory of Cory Leonoudakis, Cory’s Ride strives to make cycling a basic right, not just a privilege.

Family Biking

Our Family Biking classes, led by League of American Cyclists-certified instructors, teach essential biking skills in a safe and supportive environment. Topics include basic bike handling, rules of the road, effective communication, and proper equipment use. All drills take place in a controlled setting, away from traffic, to help riders build confidence. Classes are available both in-person and online.

BikeFest

BikeFest brings the community together by giving away bikes and helmets, offering free tune-ups and repairs, and teaching kids safe riding skills. At a single event, we’ve given away more than 60 bikes and fixed just as many, helping families ride confidently and safely together.”

Classes & Clinics

MCBC regularly offers a variety of classes and clinics for children and adults to build confidence and improve their biking skills.
