Get Involved Join Our Transportation Advocacy Team!

Do you want to help shape Marin’s bicycling future? We’re calling on dedicated, passionate bike believers to join our Transportation Advocacy Committee!

MCBC supporters are at the heart of everything we do to make bicycling safe and accessible, and no one knows the hazards, gaps, and pain points better than you. We want to draw on your knowledge to maximize our bandwidth and strengthen Marin’s bicycling movement!

  • Learn about the policies, plans, and processes that lead to bicycle infrastructure improvements.

  • Connect with MCBC staff and fellow bicycling advocates.

  • Engage, inform, and influence elected officials, city/town committees, and other decision-makers.

  • Create a more bike-friendly future.

Please note this Committee is under the purview of our Road Program and will focus on on-street infrastructure and pathways only.

If you’ve ever had an interest in digging into the policies, plans, and processes that shape bicycling in your community, we want you!

Committee members will work closely with each other and MCBC’s Policy & Planning Director to serve as MCBC’s eyes, ears–and sometimes, microphone–on the ground in areas they represent, with duties including:

  • Identifying and tracking progress on priority projects.

  • Monitoring agendas for and participating, when needed, in relevant agency meetings (project workshops, Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committees, City Councils, etc.).

  • Analyzing plans, policies, project delivery, staffing, etc. and suggesting action items toward improving the “bike friendliness” of each agency/jurisdiction.

  • Assisting with the scoring of annual bike friendly rankings for Marin’s cities/towns.

We’ll spend a significant amount of time training and educating committee members, so we’re looking for people who can commit to 1-4 hours monthly for at least one year.
