2018 Accomplishments Much to Celebrate – More to Do
Making bicycling in Marin safe, fun, and accessible. It’s what MCBC has been doing for twenty years.
In 2018, following years of advocacy, education, negotiation, and collaboration, the MCBC team helped deliver:
-
The first phase of a new pathway connecting Downtown San Rafael and Cal Park Hill Tunnel, the next link in the North-South Greenway.
-
Plans that will result in safe, connected bike routes throughout San Rafael and Marin County, including dangerous areas along and across our highways and freeways.
-
Agency commitments to improve Marin’s rural roads, including more signage, climbing lanes, and shoulder widening–starting with completed improvements on Highway 1.
-
Challenging single-track riding in the Giacomini Open Space Preserve, with the now-bike-legal Hunt Camp Trail.
-
The Azalea Hill Trail Plan–in final CEQA review–toward connecting the Pine Mountain/Kent Lake and Bon Tempe/Deer Park sides of Mt. Tam.
-
500 cyclists, hikers, and equestrians who learned how to safely and sustainably share public trails, through multi-location Slow and Say Hello! Outposts.
-
The vision for the Great Redwood Trail, an extension of Marin’s North-South Greenway through Sonoma, Mendocino, and Humboldt Counties.
-
Election wins on all four of our endorsed ballot measures, ensuring increased funding for bicycle and pedestrian safety, and access to parks, for years to come.
As of this date, Marin has yet to confirm its next District Attorney, but both candidates have vowed to work with MCBC to protect your right to a safe ride.
MCBC is making Marin’s communities bikeable and walkable, helping nurture healthy lifestyles for our kids, and connecting us to the public lands we all treasure.
But there’s more to do. And we still need your generous support.
MUCH TO CELEBRATE – MORE TO DO
Sincerely, |
