News San Rafael Farmers Market Gets Bike Valet Service

Walk/Bike San Rafael and the Marin County Bicycle Coalition are teaming up to provide valet bike parking at the Sunday Marin Farmers Market on May 21 and June 4, 2023.

One of MCBC’s local teams, Walk/Bike San Rafael, is a passionate group of volunteers working to make San Rafael a safer, more enjoyable place to walk and bike everyday, everywhere. The group quickly made the traffic congestion and parking nightmare at the Sunday market one of its priority initiatives. Thanks to a small grant through the Marin County Community Service Fund program, valet bike parking will be available as a pilot program for two dates: May 21 and June 4, 2023. By providing valet bike parking, Walk / Bike San Rafael hopes to encourage more people to leave their cars at home and make active transportation a regular part of their lives.

Bike Valet at the San Rafael Farmers Market

The service aims to make it easier for people to bike to the farmers market by providing safe and convenient bike parking. After dropping off your bike with the valet attendants, you’ll receive a ticket stub to retrieve your bike when you’re ready to leave. This is a free service and available to all market-goers.

The Sunday Marin Farmers Market is held every Sunday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Civic Center Plaza, and offers a variety of fresh produce, artisanal products, and prepared foods from local farmers and vendors.

If you’re planning to attend the Sunday Marin Farmers Market on May 21 or June 4, consider biking there and taking advantage of this pilot program! The valet lot will be located here, in the parking lot across from the market. There will also be a family friendly group ride to the market on May 21, all ages and abilities are welcome! The group ride, which will start at Albert Park, is a fun way to meet new people and learn a safe route to the market for those who are new to biking. It’s a great way to support local, reduce your carbon footprint, and get some exercise in the process!
