In big cities and small towns, rural communities, and tribal nations, thousands of students and families across the country will lace up their sneakers and hit the pavement on October 4 in celebration of International Walk & Roll to School Day, “i-Walk,” 2023. While the look of the event may differ from place to place, all center on the importance and benefit of safe, active travel for a sustainable future.
50 Marin schools will join the global movement which started in 1997 and continues to be part of the annual Safe Routes to Schools celebration. Fire truck escorts, large bike trains, and walking school buses will foster community spirit. Friendships will form. Fond memories will be created. Families will embrace slowing down, using their foot fuel to get around. This day of action gives families a chance to reflect on what could be possible; healthy and happy kids walking and biking with abundant freedom on car-less streets.
Please join us! Leave your car behind and cleat into biking on October 4, 2023.
