news Andersen Drive Detour in Place Through Spring

Construction of SMART’s rail crossing at Andersen Drive in San Rafael will necessitate a round-the-clock closure of Andersen Drive between DuBois Street and Francisco Boulevard West for the next three to four months. For people walking and biking between downtown San Rafael and Larkspur, the closure will force a slight detour onto Woodland Avenue or Francisco Boulevard West.

To get between Cal Park Hill Tunnel and Woodland Avenue, we recommend using the temporary pathway near the base of the pathway at Andersen Drive and Francisco Boulevard West, shown in the map above.

Please bike carefully; many have reported high vehicle speeds on Woodland Avenue since the detour began. MCBC has also requested that the City of San Rafael and SMART improve detour signage for bikes, especially for those heading eastbound on Woodland Avenue.
