Message from Volunteer Coordinator Jess Willard MCBC Volunteers Help Deliver Epic Events!

I want to thank ALL of our amazing volunteers who showed up, helped out and made all of our events memorable.

At MCBC we have a Signature Events throughout the year: Bike to Work Day, MCBC Dirt Fondo, The Jensie Gran Fondo and Biketoberfest Marin. Each of these events brings out cyclists in large numbers and it takes hundreds of volunteer hours to produce a great event. This year, our volunteers put in more than 600 hours in these three events alone! Kudos to all of our volunteers who kept cyclists on course, aided in hydration at a rest stop,  handed out information, kept the beer flowing, and made us smile.

Other events throughout the year took many volunteer hours as well. You could find our volunteers at events like The Marin Century, The Jensie Gran Fondo of Marin, trail work, Sound Summit and Fairfax Festival just to name a few. Our MCBC Volunteers always make Nicasio Rest Stop one to remember at the Marin Century. This single event tallied 60+ volunteer hours! It’s a long day out in Nicasio, but riders enjoy our smiling volunteers and appreciate all of the hard work that goes into hosting a rest stop. Thanks to all of those who supported the Nicasio Rest Stop this year at the Marin Century.

Bike Parking is another volunteer favorite and we saw over 2900 bikes and raised more than $1800 in donations from our Bike Parking events. Our most successful Bike Parking event was Sound Summit, a three day music festive a top Mt. Tam. A huge thank you to Bill Kern, our Bike Parking Coordinator. Bill and his loyal volunteers “came early, stayed late, worked a second shift, or a third.” Way to go Bike Parking!

MCBC finished out the 2016 Signature Event season with Biketoberfest! Our volunteers sure knew how to stick with it and make the phrase “rain or shine” happen. We had over 65 volunteers show up for this fun and festive Fall event! The rain didn’t stop people from coming out to try over 22 different breweries and see 50 exhibitors and our volunteers kept things running smooth throughout the day, despite the rain.

MCBC had great success this year with all of our events and they couldn’t happen without our volunteers, sponsors, staff and board members. A special than you to  Marin Velo Club for posting our events in their newsletters!

If you’re looking to become a part of our amazing volunteer roster, just complete this information to let us know how you can be part of the MCBC Experience! I’m looking forward to all of our events in 2017!
