MMWD Construction Project MMWD Project May Cause Access Issues In Marin Watershed

This month, Marin Municipal Water District crews will begin a project to install 24-inch piping and control valves at the Bon Tempe North Intertie located at the intersection of Eldridge Grade, Fish Grade, Shaver Grade and Phoenix Lake Road near Phoenix Lake on the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed.

Due to the nature and location of the project, trail access may be periodically impacted. MMWD states that every effort will be made to maintain access and connectivity around the project site during construction. Closures will be posted a minimum of 48 hours in advance.

As visible on the map at right (click to enlarge), this could impact people riding, hiking or running through the upper Phoenix Lake area.

This work, a part of the Filter Rehabilitation and Seismic Upgrades Project, will allow water to be more easily moved between the northern and southern sections of MMWD’s water system and will increase water supply resiliency. The contractor, Valentine Corporation, expects work to be completed in December 2017.

MCBC encourages all users to obey signage, closures and potential rerouting, and to use care and caution in this area.
