news Share the Path Awareness Kicks off in Mill Valley

Be a “roll” model by expressing your commitment to sharing the path

Save the Path - Marin County

The County of Marin, the Marin County Bicycle Coalition and the City of Mill Valley have partnered together to launch a new public awareness campaign to increase safety and enjoyment on the Mill Valley-Sausalito Multiuse Pathway.

The upbeat, informational outreach effort is part of a larger campaign to improve functionality of the paved path, highlight the recent physical upgrades, educate path users about a new 10 mph slow zone adjacent to Bayfront Park, and bring heightened awareness of the top priorities: safety and enjoyment for all users.

“We’d like all path users to be aware of their surroundings and courteous to other users,” said Marin County Parks’ Region 1 Superintendent Brian Sanford. “With this public education outreach, we’re confident that people enjoying the pathway will remember that it’s used by the young, old and everyone in between.”

“Regardless of the type of pathway user we are at any given time, we all share a love for the path,” adds MCBC Planning Director, Alisha Oloughlin. “We must also share a commitment to using the path safely and courteously for the safety and benefit of ourselves and others.”

About the campaign

Share the Path was initiated by a partnership among the County of Marin, City of Mill Valley, and the Marin County Bicycle Coalition. While partners were already working to improve safety, a serious accident on the Mill Valley/Sausalito Multiuse Pathway in September 2014 underscored the need for immediate action. This campaign aims to improve awareness, safety, access, and enjoyment for users of multiuse pathways across Marin County.
