Calling All Trail Volunteers! Two Dates For Trail Crew Training This Fall

California State Parks will be holding training workshops for its Volunteers In Parks Program (VIPP) certification on two dates this fall. This certification is needed if you want to work on State Park trails on a regular basis. Plus, the certification comes with perks, including workman’s comp insurance if you are injured on the trails.

MCBC will be working with State Parks to complete the work on Bill’s Trail and to get the Shoreline Trail at China Camp State Park open this year. There are other projects on the horizon as well, including the change-in-use of Easy Grade Trail and improvements to Coast View Trail.

Training dates will be Tuesday, September 12 and Wednesday, November 8.

You only need to attend one of the two dates to be trained and registered.

At this Training/Registration you will be introduced to the CA State Park System, the differences between a Park (unit), a Sector, a District, the chain of command and more! Volunteer trainees will receive the new Safety, Workplace Violence, Demeanor Training and Harassment Training. You will fill out your Volunteer Packet and be fingerprinted by Ameriprints with a portable live-scan.
