news West Marin Hit-and-Run Update: Driver Arraignment Scheduled for Thursday 10/26

The arraignment of Aaron Paff will take place at the Marin County Superior Court this Thursday, October 26 at 9:00 AM. Paff is being charged with four counts of felony hit-and-run.

Paff is the Novato resident who drove his truck into four riders on Pt. Reyes-Petaluma Road on October 7. A motorcycle rider caught the incident on his helmet-mounted camera, and immediately shared the video with the CHP. Following wide sharing through social media, tips led officers to Paff and they arrested him near midnight the same evening.

MCBC is very disappointed that Paff is only facing hit-and-run charges. We know that many of you have also expected stiffer charges.

“We believe Paff’s on-road behavior earlier that day points to intent,” said Executive Director Jim Elias. “Hit-and-run charges suggest his only error was not stopping after plowing his truck into four people.”

MCBC is encouraging concerned cyclists and other citizens to attend the arraignment to show support for the injured riders, and to express that we expect vigorous enforcement of the law, including the protection of our safety as cyclists.

We ask anyone who attends the arraignment to honor the decorum required in a court of law.
