This November marks the fourth anniversary of the pathway on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. To celebrate, MCBC and our friends at Marin Cyclists will be co-leading a ride across the bridge on November 11th.
But we won’t be alone! Richmond-based bike advocacy and education group Rich City Rides is organizing their own ride across the bridge, starting at Richmond BART. We’ll meet them at the start of their ride and join as they ride from Richmond to Marin. Rich City’s ride for the pathway’s third anniversary had hundreds of riders and was a total blast!
Register for the ride on the Marin Cyclists website linked here. We’ll meet at 9:45 AM at Larkspur Ferry and roll at 10 AM. Expect to get back to Larkspur by 1 PM. We hope to see you there!
If you haven’t had a chance to read it, check out MCBC’s recent blog post about the future of the pathway and how we can fight to keep it.
When: Saturday, November 11, 2023, 9:45 AM until 3:00 PM Pacific Time (US & Canada) (UTC-08:00)
Where: Rustic Bakery, Larkspur Landing Circle, 2017 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, CA 94939
We will meet at 9:45 am and roll at 10:00 am to meet up with the Save-the-Bridge Celebration by Rich City Rides at the Richmond BART station, where festivities will start at 11:11 am and end before noon. From there, we will divide into 2 groups.
One group will ride back across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to Larkspur Landing. This will be a leisurely, no drop ride led by Warren Wells of Marin County Bicycle Coalition along with Rich City Rides on the return trip. Total miles 21.8, elevation gain 458 feet, no drop ride. The second group will ride south to Oakland, take the ferry from Jack London Square to San Francisco, grab a snack at the SF Ferry Building, then ride along the Marina, cross the Golden Gate Bridge and aim north back to Larkspur. Total miles 54.2, elevation gain 1281 feet, 14-16 mph overall average moving speed on this relatively flat course. Two Bridges + Ferry Route
Whichever ride you choose for your Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Anniversary Ride, we hope to see you there on November 11, 2023!
