Hear and see the story of inspiration – and perspiration – behind Ibis Maximus, one of the most iconic pieces of mountain bike art in the world today. Marin Museum of Bicycling presents “Bike, Bean & Beyond” – an evening with sculptor J. Nick Taylor, creator of this compelling cycling sculpture and much more.

Ibis Maximus first appeared at Burning Man in 2013, and has been displayed outside the museum since 2015. It has become an icon in Fairfax, stopping passersby in their tracks and being photographed by visitors from all over the world.
Nick will also tell the extraordinary story of Cloud Gate, the Anish Kapoor sculpture in Chicago’s Millennium Park. Nick spent several years helping to plan and achieve the fabrication of Cloud Gate. Sixty-six feet long and weighing over 100 tons, Cloud Gate has an exterior of highly polished stainless steel. Its shape has earned it the nickname “The Bean.”
Nick will discuss his recent works as well, and his talk will be followed by a Q&A session. Bring your curiosity and your questions, and join us for this fascinating evening with an artist. Tickets are $10 per adult ($5 for students and Marin Museum of Bicycling members). Advance purchase is recommended.
