Cory's Ride Spring 2024 Update Cory’s Ride Empowering Young Cyclists

As we pedal into the spring season, we’re thrilled to share exciting updates on Cory’s Ride and our ongoing mission to empower young minds through cycling and community engagement.

New Riders, New Adventures!

We’re excited to announce that Cory’s Ride has been awarded the Marin County Participatory Budgeting Grant, and we’re wasting no time putting those funds to work. This March marks the beginning of an exhilarating journey with two new student groups joining Cory’s Ride.

Firstly, we welcome a group of enthusiastic 6th and 7th-grade girls from MLK Jr. Middle School in Marin City. Their curiosity and energy are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to hit the bike paths with them.

But that’s not all! We’re also delighted to welcome high school students from Novato High School to our second group. Their presence promises to infuse our rides with fresh perspectives and vibrant energy, creating a diverse and inclusive community of young cyclists.

These new additions symbolize the expansion of our mission to touch the lives of more young individuals through the transformative power of cycling. With every turn of the pedal, we strive to instill confidence, nurture leadership, and foster deeper connections among our participants.

Marin City Students Empowered Through Hands-On Bicycle Maintenance Workshop

Thanks to the assistance of Scouts from Troop 1 Mill Valley, James Meezan’s Eagle project equipped the Marin City chapter of Cory’s Ride students with bicycle maintenance kits and the necessary knowledge to utilize them effectively. The project included a two-part class focusing on the most common types of bicycle mechanical issues and their repair techniques.

The goal of the course was to promote self-reliance, troubleshooting, and teamwork among the students. Following each lesson, students participated in a hands-on portion where they demonstrated proficiency in each repair task. This initiative embodies the scouting values of thriftiness and responsibility for one’s possessions. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Scouts for their invaluable assistance!
