news Perfect Day Makes for Biketober-BEST!

This year, Biketoberfest Marin scored perfect Indian Summer weather, with red and yellow fall leaves popping out from a deep blue sky. Funk, blues and rock emanated from one end of the beer garden, as hundreds of Bay Area bicyclists enjoyed varietal beers from Adobe Creek, Henhouse, Pond Farm and Faction to name a few. Lagunitas served fresh “Born Yesterday”, Indian Valley served Rockhoppier Pale Ale and Hazy Blonde, and Russian River had plenty of Pliny.

The e-bike took center stage this year! There were e-bikes to demo from Tern, Yuba, Stromer, Specialized, Bike Friday and The New Wheel. MCBC Executive Director Jim Elias moderated a great conversation on the benefits of e-bikes featuring Karen Wiener of The New Wheel, Kate Herr from Yuba Bicycles, Eric Lucan from Mike’s Bikes and Fairfax Councilwoman Renee Goddard. Thanks to all of them, as well as Supervisor Damon Connolly, for speaking at Biketoberfest!

Gear-fest! The bicycle exhibitors showed up in force! We loved the custom Biketoberfest cycling caps from Waltz Caps, as well as great t-shirts and hats from Mt. Tam Apparel, SFC is Casual Cycling Apparel, Alpine Dam, Marin Gear Shop – and Koski with those Cook Bros. shirts! There were plenty of pretty bikes and shiny components to look at and we had a good showing of Marin bike clubs and NorCal teams promoting their programs.

Thanks to Joe Breeze and Nick Fain for leading our mountain bike ride on the Tamarancho trails, and to MCBC Board Director Mark Comin for leading the road ride.

A big thanks to everyone who came out to support bicycle advocacy in Marin! And a huge thanks all those volunteers, brewers and exhibitors who work incredibly hard to create an event of this size – we couldn’t do it without you!

See you next year! We’ll see what we can do to make the next one even more memorable!
