news “Slow & Say Hello!” Campaign Launches
As you roll onto the the trails on Saturday, June 6, give a big “Hello!” to volunteers from Trail Partners Marin County as they launch a county-wide campaign promoting safe trails in Marin County. The campaign“Slow and Say Hello!” will coincide with National Trails Day, the nation’s largest celebration of trails with events in every state, on Saturday, June 6.
The Trail Partners’ Safe Trails Marin website is now live at www.safetrailsmarin.org, with event listings, guidelines for safe behavior for all types of people who share the trails, and opportunities to volunteer and help get the word out.
The “Slow and Say Hello!” campaign launch will take place at three locations around Marin County where land managers will host fun outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy and to learn more about trail safety.
“We’ve reached a critical juncture in how we share the many beautiful trails here in Marin County,” said Curt Kruger, of the Marin Horse Council. “With Trail Partners, we want to create a paradigm shift in how all the different trail users interact, and how we can work together to protect our public lands and make the trails safe for everyone.”
In an historic demonstration of support, land managers from Point Reyes National Seashore, CA State Parks, Marin County Open Space District, Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Marin Municipal Water District have contributed funds to support Trail Partners county-wide efforts promoting safe trail use and resource protection in Marin County.
Trail Partners includes the Marin Horse Council, Marin County Bicycle Coalition, and Marin Conservation League. The group’s mission is to create a county-wide program in Marin that will engage all trail users in the safe and responsible use of trails.
50% of Marin County is parkland and open space, containing 600 miles of roads and trails. These lands include Point Reyes National Seashore, CA State Parks, Marin County Open Space District, and Marin Municipal Water District managed public lands. Trail Partners’ campaign promotes the common goals shared by all trail users: safety, consideration, and mutual respect for each other and our natural environment.

Location: Shadyside and Berry Trails (park at Lake Lagunitas)
Project: Help build a redwood trail bridge
