Trail Safety & Courtesy New “Slow & Say Hello!” Outposts Continue This Fall

Trail Partners (Marin Conservation League, MCBC and Marin Horse Council) have been setting up “Slow and Say Hello!” outposts at popular trailheads around the county this summer. The purpose of the “Slow and Say Hello!” campaign is to remind the many visitors who recreate on Marin’s open space, watershed and park lands of the importance of trail safety, courtesy toward other visitors, and respect for the plants and wildlife that inhabit them. “Slow and Say Hello!” simply asks that we communicate with each other on the trail with a simple “Hi”, wave of the hand or ring of the bell — to acknowledge our shared responsibility.

These outposts supply information and answer all types of questions, plus there’s a trail quiz where everyone who participates gets a prize. The questions are designed to teach and reinforce good trail etiquette by adding a why to the rules we promote.

Upcoming Outpost Dates and Locations:
Saturday, September 16 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at China Camp, across from Turtle Back Island
Saturday, September 30 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Phoenix Lake at the Log Cabin
Saturday, October 28 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm  at Tennessee Valley parking lot near the trail gate

Come on out and Say Hello! this fall.
