Don't Miss This Ride! Solstice Fondo – Celebrate the long days with a long ride!

The Marin County Bicycle Coalition is proud to announce the return of the Solstice Fondo  on Saturday, July 15 – a perfect opportunity for riders of all skill levels to join us on a dirt tour of Marin’s growing trail system! This all-day mountain bike ride explores the trails and fire roads north and west of Fairfax, including the 680 Trail, Big Rock Trail and the world-class Tamarancho loop.

The 2017 Solstice Fondo is strictly limited to 150 riders and includes amazing support, great swag and a top notch BBQ social at the end. Space is going fast, so don’t delay – sign up today!

The 39 mile ride starts in Fairfax at the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, and includes trails at Tamarancho and on Marin County Open Space preserves. The varied distance options have something for any enthusiastic rider – with loop options of 10 and 25 miles in addition to the full 39 mile Solstice Fondo route. Since this is a low-key ride, you’ll have most of the day to complete the ride.

Along the journey, you’ll find great support –  including well-stocked energizer stations at key locations, ride leaders and sweeps, SAG and encouragement at every stop.

Proceeds from this ride (and the Dirt Fondo in August) help MCBC expand Marin’s network of bike legal trails, including over 20 miles of new trail projects and proposals coming on line beginning this year!

2017 Women on Dirt Initiative

We seek to strike a gender balance in our cycling community and provide opportunities to introduce more women to the Marin trails. Please join us as we host a women’s-only night at the Marin Museum of Bicycling on Thursday, July 13, featuring professional cyclist, Rachel Lloyd. That evening, we’ll have final preparation clinics, and raffle drawings for items from women-led businesses in the Bay Area. The July 15th ride will be supported by female veterans of the routes who can offer coaching and guidance for newer riders. Special thanks to Redfrog AthleticsLiv Chix, REI’s Force of Nature and Rachel Lloyd for supporting this initiative!
