MCBC Helps Bring $3.4 Million in Bike Projects to Marin

Millions in bike project wins thanks to members like you. It’s spring in California, and MCBC has been hard at work planting the seeds of future bikeways. We’ve got updates on three projects that have recently been awarded funding thanks to our advocacy, and that of our supporters. In total, these projects represent a $3.4 million dollar investment in improving biking in Marin!

What We’re Excited About in 2022

As a new year begins, what do we have to look forward to? A lot, it turns out! 2022 promises to be an exciting one, with several projects long in the making finally breaking ground. While there is still much to push for, we wanted to take a moment to talk about the past wins that the bike community of Marin will soon benefit from.

Education Highlights

Safe Routes to Schools is on track to break a new record: over 10,000 students will have taken its pedestrian and bicycle safety classes by June of 2022. Already in the Fall 2021 semester alone, SR2S has taught 170 classes and over 5,000 children. Want to know more? Did your child miss out on this vital instruction due to closures last year? Read on!

Full Reservoirs Bring RSR Bridge Reprieve

Recently we learned of a plan to construct a water pipeline across the RSR bridge in an effort to mitigate the effects of Marin’s drought. This would have resulted in a three-month closure of the bike path, replaced with shuttle service. With reservoirs now at 93% capacity, the pipeline plan has slowed down.

Building Safe Routes to the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge

One down, two to go! Since the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge multi-use pathway opened in November 2019, we’ve been doubling down for safer, more intuitive connections to and from the bridge. Find out what we’re working on following the recent completion of a protected bikeway linking Francisco Blvd. E with Andersen Drive.
