Help Expand Access – Two Trail Days in February

We’re excited to kick-off 2019 with ambitious trail stewardship plans for the year, starting with two events in February that will help open five miles of new trails to bikes in 2019 and 2020. If you’ve never been out for a trail day before, we guarantee you’ll have a great time getting dirty–and for a good cause!

Trail Stewards Event: Join Us at Bill’s Trail Day on Saturday 11/10

Join us on Saturday, November 10th to help advance construction on Bill’s Trail, including bridge work, tread work and pinch point installation. Bill’s Trail is an amazing 4-mile trail connecting Devil’s Gulch with the top of Mt. Barnaby at Samuel P. Taylor State Park and the first effort of the new MCBC Trail Stewards program.

MCBC Trail Stewards Program

With the support of PG&E, Bank of Marin and Mike’s Bikes, MCBC will train and equip a leadership corps of Trail Stewards to caretake Marin’s trails and natural habitat, while also recruiting and educating young mountain bikers (and others) to join the effort.

The MCBC Off-Road Program launched in 2012 and is built on three guiding principles: education, environmental stewardship, and expanded opportunities for mountain biking. We continue to create measurable results and plan for continued success.

China Camp Shoreline Trail Update – It’s Done!

Friends of China Camp (FOCC) would like everyone to know that the Shoreline Trail is now open and ready for you. This fabulous repair was completed by a combination of the California Conservation Corps (CCC), contracted equipment operators and ‘we can do it’ volunteers.

Two State Park Projects Need Trail Volunteers

In an effort to speed up progress on the Bill’s Trail change-in-use project, and to get the Shoreline Trail open at China Camp, MCBC is ramping up volunteer training and recruitment. We’d love to have you join our team of skilled trail building volunteers this fall!

Hunt Camp Trail Volunteers Build Needed Reroutes

Enthusiastic and knowable trail volunteers from all over the Bay Area bonded while creating robust new trails. The diverse group was made up of hikers, bikers, trail runners and equestrians who all share a love for trails, and not a word was heard about trail conflict or access issues.

Two Dates For Trail Crew Training This Fall

California State Parks will be holding training workshops for its Volunteers In Parks Program (VIPP) certification on two dates this fall. This certification is needed if you want to work on State Park trails on a regular basis and carries other perks as well.

Education, Environmental Stewardship, Expanded Opportunities

With the launch of the MCBC Off-Road Program in 2012, we identified three primary goals – the “Three E’s” as we call them: Education, Environmental Stewardship and Expanded Opportunities for mountain biking. MCBC is delivering on all of these goals.
