Join MCBC's Annual Dirt Fondo for a breathtaking ride in the birthplace of mountain biking.
Dirt Fondo 2026 is back for another year of outdoor off-road adventure! Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 15, 2026, as 300 lucky riders will embark on a 45-mile journey from the Golden Gate to Mt. Tam and back.
More than a ride, Dirt Fondo is a day of testing your limits and celebrating the trails that make Marin legendary. Enjoy amazing scenery along the route and a good mix of trails, fire roads, and tarmac.
Every mile supports MCBC’s work to expand trail access, empower new riders and trail stewards, and protect the wild places we love to ride.
Registration opens in April 2026.
SPACE IS LIMITED!
Choose a Route
The most ambitious option, this route climbs deep into Mt. Tamalpais via Old Railroad Grade to East Peak before dropping through Eldridge and Indian Fire Roads. With extended climbs, technical descents, and panoramic views from ridgelines to redwoods, it’s a true epic ride across the Headlands and Mt. Tam.
Adding extra mileage and climbing, this route includes Deer Park Fire Road and the challenging Cardiac Hill. Riders enjoy coastal trails, ridge traverses, and a descent on Coast View before rejoining Dias Ridge and Miwok for a spirited finish.
This scenic loop winds through the Marin Headlands with a mix of fire roads and singletrack, coastal climbs, and sweeping ridge views. Riders stop at Golden Gate Dairy Stables before tackling Dias Ridge and finishing with a rolling return through Tennessee Valley and Rodeo Valley.
Same amazing venue, reimagined route
From redwood shade to windswept ridgelines, every turn of the Dirt Fondo brings a new view worth earning. In 2026, we’re especially excited to feature the newly bike-legal Easy Grade Trail, a long-awaited connection that replaces a stretch of Pantoll Road with a car-free climb to Mt. Tam. Choose your challenge - 45, 32, or 24 miles of classic Marin terrain: singletrack, fire road, and tarmac from the Headlands to Tam and back. Along the way, energizer stations and full course support (marshals, sweeps, SAG, and radio) keep you rolling strong. Afterward, celebrate at the Presidio Riding Club Stables with a hearty lunch, rider schwag, and don’t forget the option to upgrade to Trail Boss for extra perks. Space is limited—secure your spot early and get ready for one of the best days on two wheels.
Fundraising for a good cause
Your Dirt Fondo registration fuels MCBC’s Off-Road Program. We’re working to expand trail access, create safe alternatives to busy roads, and bring balance to Mt. Tam through our Reimagine Mt. Tam campaign. Guided by environmental stewardship, education, and new trail experiences, we’re making sure future generations can ride responsibly and sustainably on Marin’s legendary terrain.
