What we do

On The Trails

Support mountain biking in Marin through trail development, stewardship, and education. Join MCBC’s Trails program for better trails and access.

Expanding Mountain Biking Opportunities in Marin

As you enjoy Marin’s beautiful trails, remember that you are riding within the traditional territory of the Coast Miwok, many of whom are now citizens of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. Please help us honor their legacy as caretakers of this land by staying on designated trails and protecting the natural environment.

The Trails Program expands mountain biking opportunities in Marin through education, environmental stewardship, and trail development. Guided by our vision of creating a continuous off-road route from the Golden Gate Bridge to Point Reyes, we work to bridge gaps in the trail network while maintaining and restoring existing paths.

What we do

Trails Program Goals

  • Expand Trail Access: Partner with Marin Parks, MMWD, State Parks, GGNRA, and Point Reyes National Seashore to improve access to singletrack and multi-use trails.
  • Promote Responsible Trail Use: Educate trail users on friendly, responsible interactions to ensure everyone enjoys the trails.
  • Strengthen Partnerships: Collaborate with land management agencies, environmental groups, equestrian organizations, and the NorCal High School Cycling League to foster stewardship and protect sensitive habitats.

MCBC Trail Stewards

Our Trail Stewards Initiative is at the core of the Trails Program. This volunteer-driven effort increases our capacity to build and maintain sustainable trails while mitigating environmental impacts.

  • What We Do: Train, equip, and lead volunteers to care for Marin’s trails and natural habitats.
  • Get Involved: Visit the MCBC’s Event Calendar for upcoming trail dates and training opportunities.

Slow & Say Hello

In partnership with the Marin Horse Council and Marin Conservation League, we promote good trail etiquette and resource protection among hikers, runners, cyclists, equestrians, and dog walkers.

  • Sign up to volunteer at a Slow & Say Hello Trail Outpost, typically held from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
